“Treat the earth well: it was not given to you by your parents, it was loaned to you by your children. We do not inherit the Earth from our Ancestors; we borrow it from our Children.” Ancient Indian (Native American) Proverb
A WORK GROUP IN PROGRESS…
FCO explores the borders where our political and spiritual motivations meet.
Thus far FCO has drafted the outlines of a philosophy as sketched below:
I am by God’s appointment a steward of the Earth, to create and keep a sustainable world. This is my station and these are my duties.
This oath freely declared before others and from time to time repeated in unison creates the congregations of the Free Church of Occupy (FCO). The revelation of our common vision and goal of a sustainable world has now reached such broad acceptance that progressives everywhere find it self-evident. FCO gives this revelation for our time the priority and the dignity of a further revelation of God’s ongoing creation.
This is the only earth we share. What we people do, how we spend our time, our money and the world’s natural resources, how we use our technical prowess, our human creativity and our human capacity for fairness, compassion and helping one another to sustain the earth, will by and large, affect, for better or worse, every living creature and living system on earth, down to the very end of time.
